Moore, Eva. The Story of George Washington Carver (republished in 1990 by Scholastic Inc.) This Scholastic biography of noted African-American scientist George Washington Carver is written on a very simple level. Unlike other biographies of Carver that we have read, such as in The Sowers series from Mott Media and in Heroes of the Faith series from Barbour Publishing, this book does not put as much emphasis on the role of religion in Carver’s life and his deep faith in God, as one might imagine coming from a company who publishes books primarily for the public school market. However, it does at least mention the fact that he was a firm believer and is a fairly good overview of his life.
