Numeroff, Laura Joffe. If You Take A Mouse To School (published in 2002 by Laura Geringer Books, an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers.) Numeroff is the author of three previous books in this series, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, If You Give A Moose A Muffin, and If You Give A Pig A Pancake, all of which we had previously read and enjoyed. This book is after the same pattern, following a boy and his mouse through a busy day at school. Yes, these books are a little silly, but there is nothing wrong with a little silliness every so often, and they are cute. When I read this one to our younger son Jeremy (then age seven), he immediately asked me to read it again. I told him, “You can read it,” so he did–aloud to me, and enjoyed it just as much, if not more, as when I read it to him. Newer titles in this series include If You Give a Pig a Party and If You Give a Cat a Cupcake.
