Clements, Andrew. Look Who’s In The Thanksgiving Play!: A Lift-the-Flap Story (published in 1999 by Little Simon). When our boys were learning to read, we tried to get books, usually from the library, to supplement their “social studies” of holidays. In Look Who’s In The Thanksgiving Play!, Annie couldn’t be happier about being in the Thanksgiving play, and at first, she enjoys participating in the school’s production about the first Thanksgiving. But then she discovers that her two-year-old brother Alex has decided to join the fun, and her little brother seems to make trouble for all. Mavis Smith’s color illustrations appear throughout. As youngsters lift the flaps they can see where Alex will appear next. Andrew Clements has also written a number of interesting novels for older readers, most of which relate in one way or another to school, including A Week In The Woods, which we read and is good; along with Lunch Money, Frindle, The Report Card, and No Talking, which have all been recommended by others.
