Barrett, John. The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas (published in 1980 by Children’s Press; republished in 1985 by Ideals Publications). When our boys were learning how to read, we often checked out of the library seasonal books for them to have extra practice. This one is based on a 1973 television special entitled The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas by Rick Reinert Productions. Ted E. Bear’s co-workers laugh at him, his boss effectively fires him, and fellow travelers mock him. So Santa arranges for the bear to become a present for the same little girl who had earlier peered into the window. The loveable story by John Barrett is a cute book for kids of any age.
