Brown, Harold O. J. The Reconstruction of the Republic (published in 1977 by Arlington House Inc.; 2nd edition published in 1981 by Mott Media Inc. Publishers, Milford, MI 48042). The author is Professor of Systematic Theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, has written numerous articles for various publications including National Review and Christianity Today, and is a frequent speaker on Biblical values in public life. The original edition of this book, written for our nation’s bicentennial, included a foreword by then U. S. Senator Jesse Helms, a staunch conservative. The “Completely Updated Edition” has a recommendation by Jerry Falwell, who said, “When The Reconstruction of the Republic originally appeared, Dr. Brown wrote concerning the potential dangers that faced our nation. Today, the dangers are imminent and real.” We purchased this book from the publisher’s Homeschooling Book Club, from whom we bought much of our homeschooling curriculum through the years, to be used as part of our older son Mark’s senior study of U. S. Government. Anyone interested in seeking to apply Biblical principles to our nation’s government should have this book.
