Woychuk, N. A. Peace: Premier Adult Series Memory Book One (revised edition published in 2000 by Scripture Memory Fellowship International, P. O. Box 411551, St. Louis, MO 63141, now P.O. Box 568, Hannibal, MO 63401). Scripture Memory Fellowship (SFM) was founded as Bible Memory Association (BMA) by Dr. N.A. Woychuk over 60 years ago. It exists to help believers memorize God’s Word. In addition to a variety of resources for the edification and encouragement of believers worldwide, they publish 51 books of choice Bible verses and notes arranged under instructive subject headings, including memory books for Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Collegiate, as well as several levels of Adult Memory Books.
Jim Woychuk, current leader of SMF and son of the founder, gave me a copy of Memory Book One in the Premier Adult Series, entitled Peace last year at a homeschool conference. Pictured above is Memory Book One in the Beginner Adult Series, also entitled Peace. The Scriptures in each of the Adult series books are organized under fifteen teaching topics which are usually memorized in fifteen weeks. Users are not memorizing scattered verses, but Scriptures correlated under a particular theme, which helps them to recall and to apply the verses, and to learn Bible truth in an organized way. Peace has many powerful verses about the peace God gives to believers. Each of the fifteen assignments contains two to three verses, with a thoughtful commentary and explanation for each verse. The Premier books also have two pages of review exercises after each assignment to aid in memory and Bible study.
Cathy Duffy, well-known homeschool curriculum reviewer, said of SFM, “Scripture Memory Fellowship has been around for many, many years. They offer Scripture memory programs for preschoolers through adults, along with awards to be earned as memory students progress. They provide each student with a memory book, which the memorizer selects according to grade level or previous experience in memorizing God’s Word. For the most part, verses are in King James Version or the New King James Version and are all arranged topically….There are memory books for memorizers at all levels, including easier adult programs for those new to Scripture memorization. They suggest that fall is the best time to enroll but enrollments are welcomed at any time of the year. Each September a new list of rewards is available.” These books would not only be helpful as part of a homeschool Bible curriculum but also serve well for family or personal devotions.
