Summers, Candy. There’s No Place Like Home (current edition published in 2004 by Christian Home Educators Fellowship or CHEF of Missouri, 236 St. Louis Ave., Ferguson, MO 63135). Jon and Candy Summers are leaders of CHEF, which is a Missouri homeschooling organization, and used to publish a bi-monthly newsletter also named There’s No Place Like Home. This book is a collection of articles that Candy, mostly but sometimes Jon too, has written for the newsletter. Each printing is a little different from the previous ones in that new items are added from issues published since the last printing. There are general articles about the benefits of homeschooling, specific articles about Missouri homeschooling laws, a lot of practical suggestions for making homeschooling interesting, and much information about the importance of a Biblical worldview in homeschooling. One may not necessarily agree with or benefit from every suggestion made–what works well for one family may not work as well or be appropriate for another one–but within the 286 pages of the current edition, anyone should find a wealth of helpful material.
