Katzenelson, Ileana L. Bimbambu (copyrighted in 2012 by Soul Prints Press). What would you do if it was cold and your friends needed various articles of clothing to help keep them warm? Bimbambu is a bird with beautiful feathers of all colors who lives in a wonderful forest where all the animals know each other. As winter approaches, he gives his red feathers to Giraffe to make a scarf, his orange feathers to bear to make a hat, his yellow feathers to Monkey to make some gloves, his green feathers to Mother Rabbit to make some leg warmers, and his blue feathers to Owl to make a vest. Then as the wind becomes colder and the snow begins to fall, Bimbambu is left with no feathers. While a part of him feels happy inside because he knows that he has helped his friends, still another part is scared that he might freeze in the winter. What will he do? How will he survive the cold?

This moving story beautifully illustrates the principle found in Scripture, “Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” (Ecclesiastes 11:1). As children read or hear how Bimbambu encounters true friends who help him, they will realize the value of being kind and giving to others. Author Ileana Katzenelson writes, “Bimbambu felt lucky to have so many friends, and deep down inside he knew he had such good friends because he knew how to be a good friend too.” The exciting colors of the bold illustrations will help keep kids’ attention. Soul Prints Press aims to educate and provide a moral lesson to children while entertaining them at the same time. They hit the nail on the head with Bimbambu!
