Barton, Byron. Buzz Buzz Buzz (published in 1995 by Aladdin). A buzzing bee stings a bull and sets off a disastrous chain of events in the farmyard that is sure to leave young readers in stitches in this hilarious book Author and illustrator Byron Barton, who also wrote Airport and Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs, provides an irresistible nonsense lark with bright, bold pictures. Some have complained that the book is very violent with people and animals hitting and kicking and biting and more or less taking their annoyance and aggression out on unsuspecting victims. However, others have seen in it a humorous illustration of what happens when people take out their frustrations on others, showing that being bad-tempered elicits a chain reaction that can spoil everyone’s day. One person said, “I at least didn’t walk away from reading this book as a child thinking that it was OK to hurt animals, etc. I walked away thinking that you can’t be mean to everyone just because someone is mean to you.”
