Kats, Jewel. Teddy Bear Princess: A Story About Sharing and Caring (published in 2012 by Marvelous Spirit Press, an imprint of Loving Healing Press, 5145 Pontiac Trail, Ann Arbor, MI 48105). If you had something that you really liked, with whom would you want to share it? Teddy Bear Princess is a girl who lives in a castle which sits deep in a forest. She has a gorgeous bedroom, fluffy dresses, and a collection of sparkling crowns. One of her favorite pastimes is to look in the castle fields for lip-smacking berries and yummy honey to satisfy her sweet tooth. But does she keep them all to herself? No, she shares them with her best friend, a magical unicorn named Zumba. Where else might Teddy Bear Princess and Zumba go to share their goodies, and with whom?
Teddy Bear Princess by author Jewel Kats, with delightful illustrations by Richa Kinra, is a modern fairy tale with some important lessons. Teddy Bear Princess deeply values her friendship with Zumba whom she holds nearest and dearest. The story illustrates that material goods can never replace a meaningful personal relationship. The Princess works hard to find berries in castle fields and thus instills the importance of hard work in efforts to succeed. And, of course, the fact that this duo flies sky-high in their quests to give demonstrates the concepts of caring and sharing with others in need. The book is sure to delight children and fantasy enthusiasts time and time again. As other reviewers have noted, the simple text is great for beginning readers who will be impressed with the subtle message that the key to a beautiful life is giving of yourself. All parents want their children to become caring and sharing people; this book will help to encourage that. Kindle and eBook editions are also available.
