John, Melissa-Sue, and Lauren, Olivia. Olivia Travels: A Guide to Modes of Transportation, Olivia Lauren Book 3 (published in 2017 by Lauren Simone Publishing House). Have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon? Olivia Lauren is a young girl who loves to travel with her family. In adorable rhyming text, she tells how she has gone places by airplane, bike, boat, car, ferry, horse, hover board, ship, and of course school bus, among others, with all kinds of interesting information and perhaps even some new facts about each one. Which mode of transportation is her favorite? What rather unexpected forms does she mention? And what did her uncle have that she can’t wait to be old enough and get her own?
Olivia Travels: A Guide to Modes of Transportation is both fun and educational. It not only teaches children about different ways that people travel but also helps them to increase their vocabulary. The colorful images by youth illustrator Niquey are quite cute and enable youngsters to visualize each mode of travel. And they will enjoy telling which types of transportation they have seen or been on before, and which ones they would like to ride someday. Other books in the series include Olivia Lauren’s Occupations A to Z: A Children’s Guide to Jobs and Careers (Volume 1); Olivia Lauren’s Guide to Becoming an Actor (Volume 2); Olivia Connects: A Guide to Modes of Communication (Volume 4); and Olivia Lauren’s A Guide to Things We Wear (Volume 5).
