Sochor, Andy.  Great Days in History: The Unfolding of the Scheme of Redemption (published in 2018 by Gospel Armory Publishing, Bowling Green, KY).  The purpose of the Bible is to reveal God’s plan from before the foundation of the world to save man from his sin so that we could be with Him for eternity, showing us how this plan – the scheme of redemption –  has been unfolding from the beginning and what is yet to come. The purpose of this book is to trace the scheme of redemption by focusing on eight pivotal days in the history of mankind to demonstrate how God has made salvation available to everyone. Five of the days are past—the day of creation, the day of Jesus’ birth, the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, the day of Jesus’ resurrection, and the day of Pentecost.  Two are yet future—the day of judgment and the day of eternity.  The final chapter is about “Today.”

Great Days in History Is a study that will benefit those who are new to the Scriptures by providing an overview of what the Bible is all about. It will also be of use for more experienced Bible students by furnishing an easy-to-remember outline of God’s plan for mankind that can be used in teaching others. Each chapter contains questions for discussion and reflection, making it an excellent resource for personal, small group, and local church Bible studies, including homeschools.  Disclaimer:  While I am not personally acquainted with the author, I have known his parents and consider them good friends from many years ago when we all lived in northeastern Ohio and worshipped together.  In his Introduction, Andy writes that his aim is “to help us appreciate and take advantage of God’s plan to bring us home with Him in heaven for eternity.”
