Tronstad, Janet. Doctor Right (Published in 2010 by Steeple Hill Books, 233 Broadway, New York City, NY 10279). Maryann Jenner, a 26 year old nurse, has moved to Treasure Creek, AK, at the urging of her cousin Karenanna to work in the pediatric clinic of the handsome and eligible Dr. Alex Havens. Maryann begins to develop feelings for Alex, and Alex starts to like Maryann, and all the townspeople think that they’re perfect for each other. However, problems intervene. A Now Woman magazine article on the bachelor tour guides of Treasure Creek has brought a swarm of “fancy women” to the community who are looking for husbands and consider Dr. Havens fair game. In addition, Maryann’s parents have been divorced and remarried, and she wonders if she is just running away from her emotional baggage, while Alex is consumed with guilt over a childhood accident in which his brother Rocco saved him but was paralyzed for life.
Furthermore, the doctor, concerned that Rocco is becoming depressed, is counting the weeks till his short-term contract with the tiny town is up so he can return to Los Angeles and start a clinic in his brother’s honor, but the local folks like him and don’t want to see him go. Can Alex find a reason to stay in Treasure Creek? Do he and Maryann ever learn a way to work out and overcome the differences between them? And how will the life-threatening illness of a little boy named Timmy Fields fit into all this? Doctor Right is the third book of the Love Inspired “Alaskan Bride Rush” miniseries of heartwarming inspirational romance novels. With its description of the Alaskan countryside, it is a cute read for those who enjoy wholesome romance stories.
